September Currently

My last post was my very first post and this is my very first Currently.  I know it's super late, but I really wanted to join in.  I'm just reaching so many milestones today! jk

I'm currently listening to Covert Affairs.  I love this summer spy show.  I DVR so many shows so I can watch them commercial free or just in case I happen to not be home when they come on.

I am loving the fact that I finally got my blog up and running.  It is very simple and I know there are a few cosmetic issues, but considering that I did not buy a template and have it uploaded (yet!) makes it amazing.

I have been thinking intensely about all the things that I need to do, buy, make, and request for my new position as part of a math and reading intervention team for grades K-5.  The list just keeps on growing!

I want my Donors Choose projects to post to my account soon!  I am just too excited about the materials that I'm requesting.  I wrote two projects, but I'm requesting the same materials from both of them. I figured I'd have more success getting one (but hopefully both) grants fully funded if I broke it up into two parts.  Altogether I'm requesting 6 HP Slate 7 inch tablets.  This would be so amazing for my intervention groups!

I need to go grocery shopping or at least that's what my girls keep telling me.  Really, we have food at our house.  They might be out a few of their favorite things though!

Three things I want to do for myself this month...this was so hard for me!  I did come up with three though.  One...I would like to go out with friends at least once this month.  Being a single mom of three kids keeps you very busy! Two...read a non-educational book (and not a children's book).  It appears that I have been reading only professional books and I want to sit down and read for fun!  Three...get some rest!  Back to School has been so hectic and busy!  I would love to have a PJ day really soon!

That's all I got!  See you around the bloggin' world!

My Blog is finally up and runinng!!!!

I am beyond excited to finally have my blog up and running!  I have been working on getting it set up for days!  I need to give a huge shout out to Liz from TheHappyTeacher and Deirdre from A Burst of First for responding to my emails and text messages about blogging.  Also, my sister who I'm sure was so tired of hearing about my woes of setting up the blog.  Thanks ladies!  Without you I know I would not be blogging right now!

I thought I would start by telling you a little bit about myself.  I have worked in education for 15 years.  I taught second grade for 9 years.  I've spent the last 5 years working in a position where I worked mostly with teachers on four campuses in grades PreK-2 and wrote ELA & Social Studies curriculum for our district.  This year I will be part of an intervention team.  I will be working mostly with Tier 2 students in Math and Reading in grades K-5.  I am all kinds of nervous about my job.  I have never worked with 4th and 5th graders.  NEVER!  I figure I will learn a lot this year.   I love working with Primary grade levels!  I think primary peeps think differently that any other group.  I believe that learning should be fun, engaging, and hands-on whenever possible!  I know there are times when you just have to trudge through some lessons or skills, but that should be few and far between.
On a personal note, I'm the mom of 3 fantastic kids!  They are my whole world!  I'm serious.  I am so proud of them.  Here's a pic of my little family.  It was taken a few years ago, but it's one of my favorites.

My sister is also a huge part of my life.  We talk on the phone almost daily.  I just love her to pieces!
I have high hopes for this little ole blog!  My first goal is to actually get some followers!  I'm so excited to have one follower.  Thanks Liz from TheHappyTeacher!

See you around the bloggin' world!
